Dongshih Forest Recreation Park can be divided into two sections-Nature Forest Park and Recreation Park . Nature Forest Park includes forest bathing field, Vienna Forest, 12 Morgan maple-seeing forest, fern area, medical herbs specimen garden, plum garden, soil and water conservation outdoor classroom, butterfly valley, firefly area, bird-watching area, and Kuanyin cave. Recreation Park includes bicycle-riding area, Jurassic park, physical training field, music plaza, Ta-an and Wu-tung camping areas, music and coffee plaza.
In spring, peach flowers and plum flowers both blossom. In summer, the blossoms of tung yu (Tung oil) trees look like snow. In autumn, fallen leaves float in the winds. In winter, plum trees all break out into blossom. Each season has its own scenery. Azalea, cherry, camellia blossoms are also introduced from Yangmingshan. Dongshih Forest Recreation Park is expected to become the "middle Yangmingshan." What is more, there are about 60 kinds of butterflies that propagate in the butterfly valley. The butterfly valley occupies an area of 6 hectares.
Introduction :
The old name of the place where Dongshih Forest Recreation Park occupies is the "Four Corner Forest ." During the Japanese Colonial period, it belongs to an Agriculture Constitution of Taichung State. After the recovery, the forest was divided by the farmers' associations in Taichung County , Chang Hua County and Nantou County . The middle part, 212 hectares, which was owned by the farmers' association in Nantou County , is known as Dongshih Forest Recreation Park.
Dongshih Forest Recreation Park is located at an altitude of 500 meters to 700 meters at Dongshih Village , Dongshih Town. It occupies more than 200 hectares. Looking eastward, you can see the Central Mountains. Looking westword, you can overlook Ta-an River. The woods in the Forest are located between middle and low altitude. As a result, there are many kinds of plants, including primitive woods, artificial woods, single woods and also compound woods. Fir woods, tung yu (Tung oil) tree woods, maple wood, Taiwan acacia woods, plum woods are all impressive and splendid. Leaves turn green in spring and form shades in summer. The leaves of tung yu (Tung oil) trees look like white snow, and from an attractive scenery. In autumn, the leaves of tung yu (Tung oil) trees turn yellow, and the leaves of maple turn red. The woods look so colorful! And in winter, leaves fall off. The bald branches created the beauty of desolation. The changes of four seasons afford different delights.
