It is not only the first elementary school in Taichung , but it is also the first sample of the education combining historic spot with elementary school. The gate of the school and the style of the architecture of part of the classroom were built with bricks in English method. These architectures were the pattern of that time. The vent, the insect net and the other equipments were designed for people's convenience. The original three-section compound was designed for ventilating the house and saving the energy.

Introduction :
Ching-Shui Elementary School was set up in 1896. It was named ?Taichung National Language (Japanese) Education Center - Niumatou Division?in year 1896. The next year (1897), the school became independent. It followed the original name, called ?Niumatou Public School .?In 1921, the Niumatou Public School changed its name to Ching-Shui First Public School . In April 1941, it was renamed ?Ching-Shui South National School ,?which was used until the recovery. In 1945, the Nationalist Government unified all the names of the school as ?National School .?(Today, the name of ?elementary school?was unified in 1968, when the government started to implement the 9-year Compulsory Education). In the beginning, students attended class in a wing-room of Wen-Chang Temple . Then classrooms were built in the north of Wen-Chang Temple . Due to the increase of students, in 1935, the school moved to the present address, No. 125, Kuang-Hua Rd.
